Kayla was the first birth at SeaWorld Texas. At just two years old, Kayla was moved to SeaWorld Ohio without her mother, where she joined Katerina*. Kayla lived with Katerina* for 3 years, before Katerina* was moved, and a female Winnie* joined Kayla. In October 1999, Kayla and Winnie* were moved to SeaWorld Texas. After the deaths of the older females at the park, Kayla became the dominant female. In 2005, Kayla gave birth to her daughter, Halyn*, however she rejected her and Halyn* was hand-reared by trainers. When Halyn* was 7 months old, mother and daughter were re-introduced, and the pair seemed to get along much better than after birth. In November 2006, Kayla was moved to SeaWorld Florida, leaving her daughter behind who later passed away. Kayla lived at SeaWorld Florida for over 12 years before she passed away in early 2019.
